Heirs Insurance Group (HIG), is calling on university and polytechnic students to take part in the inaugural Heirs Insurance Hackathon, a technology-driven innovation programme aimed at shaping the future of insurance through Artificial Intelligence and digital solutions.

The Hackathon invites students to develop solutions for real-world challenges across the insurance value chain, including customer experience, claims processing, underwriting, distribution, data, and operational efficiency. The programme offers a unique opportunity for young innovators to apply emerging technologies to the insurance sector while gaining mentorship and exposure to real business problems.

Registrations close on February 16, 2026, with the grand finale scheduled for April, where the top three teams will share a ₦9 million prize pool.

The initiative is part of HIG’s commitment to youth empowerment, digital skills development, and inclusive innovation. The programme is being delivered in partnership with Redtech, the digital payments arm of Heirs Holdings, which will lend technical expertise and assess submissions for creativity, feasibility, scalability, and real-world impact.

Peace O. Philips, Chief Digital Officer at HIG, said:
“Africa’s future will be built by young people who can apply their ideas, creativity, and technology skills to real economic challenges. The Heirs Insurance Hackathon gives the next generation a platform to engage with the insurance industry, build meaningful solutions, and contribute to a more efficient and inclusive financial system.”

Interested students can submit their entries via the Heirs Insurance Group website: www.heirsinsurancegroup.com/hackathon.

Heirs Insurance Group, the insurance arm of Heirs Holdings, serves both corporate and individual customers across Nigeria through its subsidiaries. Heirs General Insurance Limited, Heirs Life Assurance Limited, and Heirs Insurance Brokers. With a rapidly growing retail footprint and an omnichannel digital presence, HIG continues to champion financial inclusion and lead the digital insurance space in Nigeria.
