Enakl, a Moroccan mobility startup, lands $2.3 million in seed funding

Moroccan-French mobility startup Enakl has secured $2.3 million in seed funding to expand its shared transport services and launch a new Software as a Service (SaaS) platform for operators and policymakers. The funding round, finalized in December 2025, follows a $1.4 million pre-seed round in 2024 and brings together new Moroccan investors including Azur Innovation Fund, Witamax, and MFounders alongside returning backers Catalyst Fund and Digital Africa.

Founded in 2022 by Samir Bennani and Charles Pommarède, Enakl aims to tackle urban congestion through its bus-sharing service, which allows commuters to book pre-planned rides on minibuses following fixed routes. By limiting the number of daily passengers per vehicle, the startup reduces the number of cars on the road while offering a more reliable alternative to overcrowded and inconsistent public transport. In 2024, Enakl managed over 15,000 ride bookings per month, growing around 20% monthly.

The new capital will help Enakl strengthen its commercial teams, experiment with new fleet models, and launch a SaaS product that was originally developed for internal operations. This platform will allow operators to design routes, allocate vehicles, track performance, and monitor service quality in real time. According to Pommarède, the goal is not to replace public transport, but to complement it where fixed infrastructure struggles to meet demand.

“This funding marks a shift in Enakl’s role in Morocco’s mobility landscape,” said Pommarède. “We are moving from a local fleet operator to a regional mobility operating system that can manage multiple types of shared transport either run by us or by others using our platform.”

Enakl’s approach comes at a time when Morocco’s ride-hailing market is dominated by inDrive, Yango, and Careem. By offering collective transport solutions, the startup addresses a gap in the market for scalable, efficient, and sustainable commuting options. Part of the new funding will also support pilot programs for flexible ridepooling fleets, combining self-employed drivers, vehicle financing, and real-time operational oversight to reduce costs and improve responsiveness.

“Enakl addresses a structural challenge in urban mobility with a blend of technology and operations that makes it a strong value creator,” said Adnane Filali, Managing Partner at Azur Innovation Fund.

With its platform, SaaS offering, and ridepooling fleets, Enakl is positioning itself as a critical infrastructure player in Moroccan cities, helping reduce congestion while supporting the transition toward more sustainable and intelligent urban transport.
