Nigerian startups were struggling to convert early traction into long-term, sustainable growth, the Crosspoint Innovate Empowerment Initiative (CPI) has opened applications for the INNOVATE 2026 Pitch and Grant Program.

Now in its third year, the programme will award a $5,000 grant to a high-potential founder, alongside access to mentorship, investor networks, and national visibility through one of Nigeria’s steadily growing platforms for emerging businesses.

This year’s conference is themed “The Next Growth Stage: Positioning African Businesses for Sustainable Growth and Profitability,” reflecting a broader shift in focus across the ecosystem from simply launching startups to building ventures that can scale, endure, and remain profitable in a challenging market.

For CPI, that shift is intentional. The organisation says the real challenge for many founders today lies not in starting a business, but in navigating the complexities that come with growth.

Over the past few years, CPI has engaged more than 2,000 entrepreneurs across Nigeria and continues to support a network of over 200 founders through structured programmes centred on capacity building, growth, and market access.

At the 2025 edition, Daniel Chukwueloka Monyei emerged as the winner of the pitch competition, receiving a $2,000 grand prize. His venture, which converts plastic waste into mosquito-repellent paint, stood out for addressing both environmental and public health challenges.

“A lot of founders don’t fail because the idea is weak,” said convener Ladi Soyombo. “They stall because they lack the right support at the stage where growth becomes complex. INNOVATE is designed for that phase.”

The programme continues to attract founders building practical, locally relevant solutions with the potential to scale. Shortlisted applicants will pitch live at the INNOVATE 2026 Conference, presenting their ventures before a panel of investors, operators, and ecosystem leaders.

Beyond funding, organisers say the real value lies in access to networks, insights, and opportunities that can significantly accelerate business growth.

Applications are now open to entrepreneurs and small business owners across Nigeria. Selection will be based on innovation, scalability, market potential, and early traction.

More information on eligibility and the application process is available at: www.cpinnovate.org

Crosspoint Innovate Empowerment Initiative is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting young professionals and entrepreneurs through training, mentorship, and access to opportunities. Through its flagship platform, INNOVATE, CPI convenes founders, operators, and industry leaders to foster collaboration and drive long-term business growth.
