Recognised at the Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator Cohort 5 Demo Day held during GITEX Africa in Marrakech, Kredete, the financial technology platform helping African immigrants and diaspora communities access stablecoin-powered financial services, has emerged as one of the programme’s standout alumni driving innovation in stablecoin card issuance. The announcement comes as Visa celebrates a milestone of supporting over 100 startups across Africa through the accelerator, with participating companies collectively representing a valuation of $1.4 billion.

Kredete, a member of Cohort 3 of the Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator, has leveraged the strategic guidance, mentorship, and global network access provided through the programme to successfully launch Africa’s first stablecoin-backed credit card co-developed in partnership with Visa. The card enables users across 50 African countries to spend U.S. dollar-backed stablecoins at over 150 million merchants worldwide.

It was founded in 2023 by Adeola Adedewe with a singular mission to ensure that every African, whether living at home or abroad, has access to modern, affordable financial tools that reflect their real economic lives. The company combines cross-border money transfers, stablecoin technology, and a proprietary credit-building engine to serve both diaspora users and in-country consumers.

The stablecoin-backed credit card powered by the Visa network is the cornerstone of Kredete’s consumer offering. Built on USDC and settled over multiple blockchain networks for speed, transparency, and low cost, the card removes traditional barriers to global commerce for African users: high FX fees, limited merchant acceptance, and currency volatility.

Since launching its stablecoin card across selected African markets, Kredete has seen strong traction and is now accelerating its expansion into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with plans to go live in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.

“Our vision is simple, if you support your family financially, that should count toward your creditworthiness. We’re building a system that rewards financial responsibility across borders and making sure that the millions of Africans abroad are finally seen, scored, and served. Being recognised through the Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator has accelerated our ability to deliver on that mission at scale.” Adeola Adedewe, Founder & CEO, Kredete

At Cohort 5 Demo Day, Visa highlighted Kredete’s journey as a demonstration of the program’s multiplier effect, where accelerator support translates into real commercial growth and cross-border product launches. Kredete is a financial technology platform that helps African immigrants and diaspora communities send money home, build credit, and access stablecoin-powered financial products. Founded in 2023 by Adeola Adedewe, Kredete enables users to send money to over 30 countries with low fees, while each transaction contributes to building their credit score in their country of residence. The company has raised $24.75 million in total funding, serves over 4.6 million users, and has processed over $9 billion in annualized payments volume.
